Hours/levels |
The Japanese languange proficiency exam site lists the number of lesson hours often needed to reach the various proficiency levels (elementary to advanced).
But note that you will progress faster in my private lessons than at a school. For example, if you are a beginner, we will be able to cover the widely-used textbook Japanese for Busy People I in about 50-60 lesson hours. |
Times | We can set times convenient for you, depending on our schedules.
However, I do not teach on Sundays. |
Cancellation | There is no fee for lessons cancelled 3 hours before the lesson. If you cancel less than 3 hours before a lesson, half the lesson fee is required. |

My name is Harumi Sakurai. I'm a native of Tokyo and have been teaching Japanese for over 30 years, even before there was a Japanese-teaching boom! I've written multiple textbooks, which have been very well received by teachers and students alike. Two of my out-of-prints books were so popular they had the dubious honor of having pirate versions published in Korea, Taiwan, and China.
Currenly available books include the following:
I helped establish one of the first Japanese schools in Tokyo, but have worked exclusively with private clients for some years. My clients have included journalists, bankers, trading company staff, doctors, lawyers, university teachers, models, English teachers, and others.
